Remembering Robert & Rosetta: A Public Offering

BMA Lexington Market
112 N. Eutaw Street (Upper Market near the Baltimore Room)
Baltimore, MD 21201

Join us in an interactive public offering that honors the lives of Robert and Rosetta, as well as those of the enslaved people once sold at the historic Lexington Market. Curated and facilitated by multidisciplinary artist and archivist Spirit Adams, this activation reclaims Black history and land memory; employs participatory elements and storytelling as tools for healing; embraces intergenerational dialogue; and fosters collective liberation.

Featuring grounding activities, a conversation with Robert & Rosetta sculpture artist Oletha DeVane, guided freedom-letter writing, and sonic activation with drumming by artist MUSE(O)FIRE, this offering creates space for community reflection, memory sharing, and cultural ritual, positioning the sculpture not as a static object but as a living archive of Black history and resistance.
