Ever wanted to create a rock opera – but found the concept a little daunting? Hop on into the BROS Rock Opera Big Bang, a hackathon-style workshop in which teams will have one week to create a mini rock opera from start to finish! Teams will assemble on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd and write scripts and music inspired by a 20 sided die-generated theme prompt; we’ll then gather a cast and crew and stage matinee performances the following Saturday, August 8th at the Ottobar.
We’ll have experienced BROS available to help you work through creative roadblocks, tech challenges, and getting around the workshop, plus open shop hours through the week. This will be a fun, slightly bonkers, very low-stakes opportunity to try out new skills and ideas. Join the mayhem!
Read more and access signs ups below. We are looking for creators, actors and other staff to make this hectic and wild ride of rock opera production happen.
Creators – creators will form teams to write scripts and music, work on props, sets, and coaching actors to get their visions on stage a mere 6 days after coming up with original concept.
Actors – You’ll get your script on Monday August 3, learn your song during the week, put it all together in a rehearsal on Friday August 7th and be a star at the final performance on August 8th at the Ottobar.
Volunteers – We are looking for additional folks to help with writing, composition, props and costumes as well as event crew (tech and stagehands).
