SFW Resident Artist Program | Artist Talk

The Kent Cultural Alliance (KCA) continues its third year of the SFW Resident Artist Program with a focus on History. Spanning two residency sessions in the spring and fall, 2026 is devoted to the theme of History to coincide with KCA’s 45th Anniversary, and America’s 250th Birthday. KCA is fortunate to have the commitment of several local partner organizations supporting the artists as they explore Kent County’s living history. The Historical Society of Kent County, the Chesapeake Heartland Project, and The Museums of Kent will all work with the SFW resident artists to inspire engaging new artwork.  KCA is ready to welcome the second team of three artists to begin their six week residency on September 21, 2026!

Key events are as follows:

Monday, September 28, at 5:30 pm – MEET THE ARTISTS, a formal program where each of the three artists will offer short presentation about themselves and their artistic careers – questions are encouraged. A light reception will follow.

Saturday, October 17, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm – OPEN STUDIOS, an informal opportunity for you to meet the artists in their workspace and learn about their projects for this History themed residency.

Friday, October 30, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm – EXHIBIT OPENING RECEPTION.  Come experience the new work created by KCA’s three resident artists as they interpret and connect us with our shared history.

Saturday, October 31, at 1:00 pm – ARTISTS’ TALK – A casual presentation lead by KCA’s three artists exploring the new works created for this History themed session.

Exhibit Hours:  The History Exhibit will run from Friday, October 30 through Saturday, December 12 with gallery hours on Wednesdays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
