Jowita Wyszomirska: Shaping Geographies
School 33 Member’s Gallery
On View thorough Aug. 18

Geographies, an exhibition of new works by Jowita Wyszomirska, features works on paper and installations that utilize elemental shapes that network to create intricate systems of mapping. From personal inquiries into memories of place, including cities and underwater environments, Wyszomirska selected and choreographed simple forms shaping them into topographies, schematic diagrams and fantastic landscapes. Her practice has evolved from a focus on the materiality of the medium and an engagement in repetitive process where two and three-dimensional arrangements, drawn and folded, vary from the exact and coherent to the random and chaotic. The resulting inscapes merge personal observations of surroundings, experiences of relocation and displacement into resonant geographies.
