The You Are Here Gala is the jewel of Submersive’s 10th anniversary exhibition at Creative Alliance—an immersive retrospective honoring a decade of groundbreaking, site-specific art created in some of Baltimore’s most iconic spaces, including The Pratt House, The Peale Center, The War Memorial, The Peabody Library, and the National Aquarium.

Come together with artists, collaborators, and audience members from across Submersive’s history for a night filled with:

Games, fun, art vendors, and old friends—creative partners who helped shape a decade of immersive art

Live performances featuring familiar faces and favorite characters from past productions

A live auction with exclusive items and experiences—many inspired by Submersive’s most beloved shows

DJs, dancing, and celebration deep into the night

A final chance to explore the exhibition before it closes

The Gala is also Submersive’s biggest fundraiser of the year, supporting the next generation of immersive art and collaboration in Baltimore. Ticket levels are tiered to reflect the fundraising nature of the event—your contribution helps ensure Submersive can continue to map new worlds for years to come.

We invite you to dress creatively. We suggest: Create an outfit inspired by your favorite Submersive show OR the world you want to see. You may even win a prize!

Deceived

Sunday, November 30 | Ongoing through January 4
@ Everyman Theatre

Bella is seeing and hearing things that aren’t there. Her loving husband is concerned. Is she losing her mind, or is there something more insidious at play? In this gripping new adaptation of the famous psychological thriller Gaslight, we find a young woman desperately trying to unravel a dangerous mystery while a web of manipulation and lies forces her to doubt the relationships around her – and her own sanity! Filled with suspense and surprise, Deceived is the perfect addition to Everyman’s annual lineup of holiday mysteries. If you’ve ever wondered where the term “gaslight” came from before it was named Merriam-Webster’s word of the year in 2022, you’ve got to see this play.

Call for Entries | Critical Ground: Art and Environmental Justice

deadline December 1
posted by Washington Sculptors Group and Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture

Critical Ground: Art and Environmental Justice is to be an exhibition of works that confront the pressing
intersections of environmental harm and social inequality. In listening to the natural world, we are called to reflect on the imbalances in our human systems—and to consider how equity, justice, and care
must shape the ways we live together. Artists are invited to submit works that engage with the realities of climate crisis, land use, pollution, displacement, resource extraction, and other urgent issues, especially as they intersect with questions of justice and equity. Works may use traditional media or sustainable and experimental materials to reflect on both local and global concerns. Glen Echo Park is a historic site known for its connection to nature, public engagement, and accessible arts programming. Since 1891, the park has played a significant role in the cultural and social history of the region. Find more on this history here. Where feasible, outdoor works will be included to create visual and thematic dialogue with the natural surroundings of Glen Echo Park.

Critical Ground affirms the role of artists in shaping public understanding and response to environmental justice. Through this exhibition, Washington Sculptures Group (WSG) aims to create an
inclusive and thought-provoking experience for audiences of all ages — one that invites reflection, fosters empathy, and encourages creative action toward a more just and sustainable world.

We invite proposals from visual artists working across media and approaches whose work embodies this spirit.

IT’S A SNAP! 2025

The Baltimore Heritage Area is seeking submissions to its 2025 It’s A Snap! Photo Contest, with the theme “Baltimore’s History is American History.”

We are looking for photos that capture Baltimore’s legacy in the greater story of the United States. This could range from images that represent Baltimore’s role in the Civil Rights Movement to the culture that is being created each day by Baltimoreans. We invite photographers to explore this theme in their own way. The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers over the age of 16.

The grand prize winner will receive $500, the first place winner will receive $400, the second place winner will receive $300 and honorable mentions will receive $50 each. All of the winners will be celebrated at a public exhibition in Baltimore in 2026.

Open Call: Curatorial Residency

deadline December 31
posted by Vox Populi

Vox Populi is accepting applications for our Curatorial Residency, part of the citywide Collective Futures festival and Vox’s project An Endless Meeting: Collective Process, Artistic Labor, and the Politics of Working Together. We invite a curatorial pair, two artists/curators from a DIY space, artist-run initiative, or collective located at least 50 miles outside of Philadelphia to participate in a one-month residency in August–September 2026.

The selected curators will collaborate with Vox members and Philadelphia-based DIY collectives to co-develop an exhibition opening October 2026. This residency provides housing, stipends, production support, and opportunities for dialogue with Philadelphia’s rich artist-run ecosystem. Please note we expect curators to connect with Philadelphia collectives during their residency and to include Philadelphia-based artists within the final exhibition. We will facilitate these relationships based on your curatorial interests.

We seek artists/curators who are committed to collective authorship, experimental methodologies, and exploring the politics of working together. Proposals should reflect an interest in cross-regional exchange and an openness to collaboration across differences.
