Internationally renowned traditional folk musicians – Ken Kolodner (hammered dulcimer, fiddle, hammered mbira); Chris Norman (wooden flutes, tin whistle, small pipes, piano); and Robin Bullock (guitar, cittern, mandolin, piano)—play a unique blend of original, seasonal, and traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, Appalachia, Canada, Europe, Africa and the Far East. Each member of Helicon are known internationally as among the very best at their primary instruments. This show is a great way for families to kick off the holiday season with an extremely energetic and varied performance. Kolodner’s son, Brad Kolodner, will join the fun as a guest on clawhammer banjo, fiddle, and vocals (a frequent winner/finalist of national banjo contests, former Strathmore Hall Artist in Residence, WAMU and Folk Alley DJ, 2016 International Bluegrass Music Association [IBMA] Momentum Award Winner; Nominated twice for IBMA DJ of The Year; Charm City Junction, The Ken & Brad Kolodner Quartet). Joining Ken and Brad is one of the best-known acoustic roots musicians in the U.S. Rachel Eddy (fiddle, vocals, guitar), and the mid-Atlantic’s go-to bassist, Alex Lacquement (Charm City Junction). 2026 Beam Camp Project Open Call

deadline December 29
posted by Beam Center

Beam Center seeks design proposals for an ambitious public artwork that will be brought to life through collaborations between youth, Beam Camp staff and the selected proposer. Projects will be realized by a community of more than 100 young people at Beam Camp in July 2026.

Beam Camp is a specialized summer camp for building and collaboration located in Strafford, NH. Our award-winning program offers youth (ages 10-17) the opportunity to cultivate hands-on skills while exploring innovative thinking, design, problem solving and the creative process.

Every year, Beam Camp solicits proposals for unique and spectacular large-scale projects that serve as the centerpiece for the 29-day session of camp, during which they will be built and brought to life by 100 campers and 20+ staff. Our Project Team works with the winning designers to translate their project designs into the camp context. We pride ourselves on the high level of craftsmanship and skill that our Projects and the work of our staff and campers reflect. Projects are always ambitious and technically challenging, and in many cases are brought to life through the exploration of vibrant themes that can become the world we live in during our time at camp. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with our past projects.

Winning proposals will be selected by a committee composed of Beam Center staff, youth, past project designers, and community members.

Black Sox Sculpture Project

* deadline extended * January 3
posted by Maryland Art Place

On behalf of Parks & People and South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP), Maryland Art Place (MAP) is offering an exciting opportunity to Baltimore regional artists (MD, DC, PA, DE, VA) working in large-scale sculpture to create artworks of historical Baltimore Black Sox baseball players. The sculptures will be placed within a larger $30 million public park on the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River in the Westport neighborhood.

Figurative Work: The Baltimore Black Sox Sculpture Project (BSSP) emphasizes the need for lifelike, figurative sculptures that authentically represent Black individuals in public art—addressing a historic imbalance where such representation has been largely reserved for white figures in the U.S.
