Oh, Cats: The Jellicle Ball didn’t just open on Broadway—it made an entrance. The reimagined, ballroom-culture-infused spectacle clawed its way into the Broadhurst Theatre on April 7, 2026, serving looks, drama, and pure feline fabulousness. Opening night? A full-on high-fashion moment, darling—red carpet dripping in style and attitude. Fresh off its critically adored Off-Broadway run, this production struts in with fierce, runway-ready choreography and just enough audience interaction to keep you on your toes. Basically: it’s not your grandma’s Cats—unless your grandma is iconic.

Opening night brought theater veterans and ballroom legends into the same spotlight, including André De Shields and Junior LaBeija, while costume designer Qween Jean reshaped the feline aesthetic through a contemporary lens of glamour and identity. The result reframes a Broadway classic through the language of ballroom performance, fashion, and community.

Photographs by E. Brady Robinson document the evening from yellow carpet arrivals and street portraits under the theater marquee to André De Shields at curtain call and the after party at Pier 60. The Feline FOMO is REAL.
